in Saarbrücken

Research areas and current projects of the group:

The interdisciplinary research focusses on developmental and disease-related processes linked to DNA-methylation. The current projects areas are:

Epigenetic reprogramming:
We investigate the principles and mechanisms of epigenetic program changes during the earliest stages of ammamlian development and their relevance for stem cell generation.

Regulation of imprinted genes:
We analyse the structural and regulatory peculiarities of imprinted genes and the consequences of epigenetic misregulation on human diseases.

Epigenomics:
We develop new assays and approaches (experimentally and conceptionally) to decipher epigenetic profiles along chromosomes and apply those technologies to developmental and disease related biomedical systems.
